THE SIDNEY APOSTOLIC TEMPLE, “The Temple”, began with Robert and Phyllis Fries moving their family from Piqua, Ohio to Sidney in 1972 with a calling to start a work for the Lord. In 1973 the doors opened in Sidney, Ohio holding services in a remodeled three car garage. With only their three daughters and son on the way, this work of the Lord began.
One year later to the date the first person received the Holy Ghost. The Lord continued adding to the church, and in 1976 construction began on the first phase (our first sanctuary) in our current location. The second phase was adding a vestibule to the sanctuary and in 1996 we began phase three which was the construction of our current sanctuary today. In the year 2000, phase four was an expansion for offices, a conference room, and classrooms.
At 19 years old, God filled me with his Spirit and changed my life completely. I began walking with God and followed the footsteps he made for me in my personal relationship and ministry.
I married the love of my life, Nikki in 1991 and together we have lived for God fulfilling any role or opportunity to serve others and the Ministry. We have been blessed with four sons and one daughter and have incorporated them into the work of God as we served.
In 2009 we were installed as Pastor of The Temple and for ten years God has moved in so many ways! New churches established, lives changed, and moving forward with a vision to reach all four counties that surround us! My desire is to serve God’s people and do as Christ commanded….”Feed my Sheep”.
The Temple is my home, and with God’s help I pray my family and I may serve you.
IN MARCH OF 2009, Pastor Robert L. Fries retired and The Temple transitioned Pastor-ship to his son in law Pastor Mark L. Hina and wife Nichole. With four sons and one daughter, they received the mantle and began doing the work of God. In 2010, expanded parking and renovation of church property was needed for growth.
God has continued the growth of The Temple with just a family in the beginning, and now The Temple averages 250 plus every Sunday. Pastor Hina had the vision to begin daughter works in the four surrounding counties and has already begun two new works. A Hispanic church was opened in 2011, and a new work in Quincy, OH was started in 2012. Growth continues in all three Temple churches as God moves upon these works.
Joe Brown was installed as Pastor of The Temple of Quincy in 2016 and has taken upon the mantel with a fervency. Through much prayer and grace of God, many souls are being restored, lives changed, and The Temple moves forward with God leading the way!
